Oct 30: Pirates, Mermaid and Musical Treasures at CCP

Come as swashbuckling buccaneers or enchanting sea sirens in the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Halloween event billed Pirates, Mermaids, and Musical Treasures: A Halloween Family Concert at 6PM on October 30, 2009 at the CCP Main Theater.

The Metro Manila Community Orchestra (MMCO), under the direction of “Captain Josefino Chino Toledo”, will perform lively and comedic music with an underwater setting. The MMCO will play pieces with nautical and marine themes such as The Little Mermaid, Camille Saint-Saens’ Aquarium from Carnival of the Animals, selections from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance and Handel’s Water Music; Charles’ Tenet’s La Mer and Offenbach’s Can-Can from the Orpheus in the Underworld.

Show up early in your best costumes for the pre-performance activities at 4 PM. Before the concert, there will be a petting zoo of orchestral instruments. Children will be able to touch and try out the different musical instruments. A costume parade will also be held.

The Halloween event is recommended for audiences ages 3 to 93. Adults accompanying the children---parents and guardians---are enjoined to come in costume and join the costume parade as well. Prizes will be awarded to the best, most creative and best ‘under the sea’ costumes.

Tickets are available at Ticketworld (891-9999)
